Privacy Policy

TechMap Live has no accounts, no sign-up and no login. We never ask you for a name, an email address or anything else about you. This page lists everything that does happen when you load the map.

What we ask you for

Nothing. There is no form on this site, no newsletter, no account and no payment. We do not knowingly collect personal information, and we have no database of visitors.

What is stored in your browser

A few small preferences are saved in your browser's local storage so the map remembers how you like it:

• techmaplive:sound-on — whether incident sounds are on.
• techmaplive:follow-live — whether the map auto-frames new incidents.
• techmaplive:install-dismissed — whether you waved away the offer to install the app.
• techmaplive:launch-reported — set for the current tab only, so opening the installed app is counted once rather than on every page.
• techmaplive:ads-consent — whether you accepted or refused advertising cookies. It is stored here, rather than in a cookie, so that the sentence below stays true.

These stay on your device, are never sent to us, and are deleted when you clear site data for this domain. We set no cookies of our own.

The third-party analytics and advertising tags described below do set their own cookies.

If you install the app

The map can be installed as an app on a phone or a computer. If you do that, we record the install — and each time the installed app is opened — so we know whether the feature is used at all.

Each record contains only:

• whether it was an install or an app launch,
• the broad browser, operating system and device type — chrome, android, phone — and never the full browser identification string,
• the country, region and city Cloudflare already resolves for the request,
• which of the eleven site languages the map was in,
• the date and time.

There is no identifier of any kind in these records — no cookie, no account, no device or session id — and your IP address is not stored. Two records cannot be linked to each other or to you. They can tell us that eleven people in Poland installed the app on Android; they cannot tell us anything about any one of them.

Nothing is recorded for ordinary visits. If you never install the app, this section does not apply to you and no such request is ever made.

Analytics

Two Google tags load on this site, on every page, from one shared library. Its download is deferred until the browser is idle, so it never competes with the map for the first few seconds.

• Google Analytics 4 (property G-QL2811J7YS) — pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device, browser and referrer. Used to understand how the site is used and to find bugs. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
• Google Ads (tag AW-18280750123) — added 24 August 2026. This one is advertising: it sets advertising cookies, lets us measure whether an ad brought you here, and can place you in a remarketing audience so Google may show you our ads elsewhere. Governed by the same Google privacy policy, and controllable at My Ad Center.

Nothing on this site records your session. Microsoft Clarity, which captured clicks, scrolling and mouse movement for replay, was removed on 9 August 2026 and no longer loads.

The advertising tag asks first. On your first visit a bar appears offering Accept or No thanks, and until you choose one, Google is instructed to store nothing for advertising — no advertising cookie, no remarketing audience. Refusing is one click, exactly like accepting, and the answer is remembered so you are not asked again. This is implemented with Google Consent Mode.

Analytics is not behind that bar and loads either way. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight, and it is stated here so you can act on it: the tracker-blocker and opt-out links below stop Analytics, and they work whatever you told the advertising bar.

The Analytics property is shared across the Lumora Build network, so traffic from this site is measured alongside our other sites in one property.

We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers. This page said we did not run advertising at all until 24 August 2026; the Google Ads tag above is why that sentence changed rather than being quietly left in place.

Services that see your request

Loading the map necessarily reveals your IP address to the services that serve it:

• Cloudflare hosts the site and processes requests, including standard server logs and abuse protection.
• CARTO and OpenStreetMap serve the map tiles.

Those, plus the two Google tags described above. This site loads no webfonts, no ad units, no embedded video and no social widgets, so no other third party sees your request.

Clicking through to a news article takes you to that outlet's own site, under that outlet's own privacy policy. We have no control over, and no visibility into, what happens there.

How to opt out

• Any mainstream content or tracker blocker stops Analytics; the map works normally without it.
• Google offers a browser opt-out add-on for Analytics.
• Clearing site data for techmaplive.com removes the stored preferences and any analytics cookies.
• Browsing in a private window keeps nothing between visits.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no identifier of our own, there is generally nothing for us to look up, export or erase — the data described above sits with Google and Cloudflare under their own policies and their own request processes.

Children

This site aggregates technology news and is not designed for or directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

This policy was last updated on 24 August 2026. If it changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
