AI tools expand while cyber threats prompt patches and takedowns

It’s been a busy day in tech, with AI features rolling out across platforms and cybersecurity teams responding to active threats. Pinterest launched AI Restyle in San Jose, a tool that lets users redesign rooms in photos and even add furniture using artificial intelligence. Over in San Francisco, Anthropic simplified its Claude chat by merging the chat and Cowork tabs into one interface, making it easier to switch between conversations and collaborative work. Meanwhile, Meta released a Mac app for its Muse AI assistant from Menlo Park, giving users autonomous task management and secure virtual machine capabilities. On the cybersecurity front, firms in Herzliya patched a critical flaw in Check Point and related systems that could have allowed hackers to gain root access remotely. Linx Cloud stepped in to help a southern telecom company in San Francisco shrug off a DDoS attack, restoring service after a traffic surge. And in a major enforcement move, the FBI took down the Nightmare Stresser platform in Washington, D.C., which had over half a million users and was tied to hundreds of thousands of global attacks. Elsewhere, MIND raised $72 million in New York to grow its AI-powered data loss prevention business. Lucid and Bolt put at least 25,000 Level 4 self-driving vehicles on European roads using Nvidia’s Hyperion platform. And Qtonic Quantum unveiled QShield in San Jose, a new tool built to protect networks from the future threat of quantum-powered decryption.
